The history of our estate dates back to the 17 th century and has since been passed on from generation to generation. In the 1970s Franz-Josef Regnery sold his vineyard holdings on the flat plain and acquired parcels in the best sites of the Klüsserather Bruderschaft instead. Today his son Peter, a graduate of the Geisenheim wine university, who has been in charge since 2000, reaps the benefits of his father’s wise decision.
Being a family business, we grow 8 hectares on the steep slate dominated slopes of the Klüsserather Bruderschaft. It is one of the most famous and longest south faced sites at the Middle Mosel. The soil consists of devonian slate with a high percentage of iron ore. It is deeply weathered and shows an incline of up to 83 %. These south and south-east facing vinyards with their slate soils absorb the warmth of the sun during the day and pass it back to the vines at night, which gives our wines their unique character and substance. The results are fresh, mineral and ripe Riesling and powerful Pinot Noir wines.
Since 2003 we are member of the Bernkasteler Ring e. V., an association of 35 wine estates on the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer which share their passion to prise outstanding premium wines from the unique steep vineyard sites of the MOSEL wine cultural landscape.
The Bernkasteler Ring is the oldest wine auction association in Germany.
